Technical issues

Hi,

Shirley is currently having issues getting on to the internet. It appears as though her phone line is not working correctly.

She will be back as soon as possible!

Hi Folks,

MESSAGE FROM SHIRLEY.

Phone may not be repaired until next week !!!

I suppose that its always possible that something may happen earlier so keep checking.

I had a check of my cupboards and fridge today for things that needed using. 4 eggs, some shortcrust pastry, a few soft tomatoes, half a jar of cranberry sauce, some cheese and a packet of ground almonds.
I now have a quiche, some cheese straws and 2 bakewell tarts. I used the cranberry sauce instead of jam in one of the bakewells and some marmalade in the other. I extended the small amount of ground almonds with ground rice and almond flavouring. I have just had a wedge of bakewell for my supper and its yummy.

I did a little shop today for milk, coffee and a few household bits but saved loads on my usual spend. I could continue to use up my stores and freezer only buying essentiials for a few months I should think. I have a turkey in the freezer which I bought for Christmas but never used as I was given a fresh turkey crown as a gift. I think it will be a few weeks before I can fancy turkey again but at least I know its there for when the going gets tough.

Hope everyone is keeping warm, well and happy.

Thanks Eileen, oh dear, poor Shirley, bet she feels so cut off (well, technically she is cut off anyway lol).

You did well making so much out of a few leftovers Eileen, Shirley will be proud of you! I did a £16 shop for a few essentials yesterday, other than similar fresh essentials I don't plan on doing any major shopping for at least a month. Going to bake a mincemeat cake today, using leftover homemade mincemeat.

Regards, Sooze

Eileen thank you for keeping us up to date, if you have any more communication with Shirley, please tell he we are missing her.
Your cook up using the leftovers sounds delicious. I made a trifle with some of the HM Cranberry sauce and the rest will, like yours, go into some pie/tart. Turkey Tikka Masala for supper yesterday, one portion to freeze.
I have two 1.5kg baked ham joints, reduced to £2 in Tesco. 1 sliced ready to freeze etc and the bone cooked for pea and ham soup, the other still lurking in the fridge - seemed a good idea at the time, trouble is, freezer bursting at the seams, so no new meat or fish products to be purchased here, nor butter, cheese or bacon. I will need Shirley's inspiration for ringing the changes!
Best wishes. Ali.
