Am now regularly getting some unpleasant spam sent via comments box (usually shown to readers only on past postings) and one way to prevent this happening is to tick a box requesting 'word verification' to those who log on to my site. This just means copying down a word shown on the screen. As it needs a person to do this, it cuts out all spam sent via computers only. But need your agreement as do not wish to cause any extra hassle for you. Would hate to lose readers because of having to make this adjustment. The spam is just annoying, so can leave as is if you prefer. Let me know. (today's posting follows this).

I have no problems for verification as most sites have this in one way or another for obtaining membership

I've scanned down through many of the comments and can't find any spam comments in there (I am a bit of a sleuth and Other Half is a network manager so I was hoping to be able to find out what was happening).
Is it just spam coming into your email box I wonder? If so, you should be able to put it into a Spam folder, or perhaps refuse to accept emails from this source. Have a chat to your grandson about it because he might be able to sort it out for you. (Or let me know which day's comments have been spammed so I can see if I can check it out further for you).

Hi Shirley, I too have no problems with that. It is really annoying when you get unpleasant spam. Do you have a Security provider. I have been using Norton Security for quite a while now, they are really good and I sure recommend them/

Although I don't write in much at the moment as I don't know where the time goes but I do read every
day and try and catch up with the beginnings, its also great you have some new readers.

No problem, Shirley, lots of sites do that to avoid receiving spam or unpleasant comments.
